The Essar Wildcat, a semisubmersible offshore drilling rig owned and operated by Essar Oilfields Services (EOSL), recently executed a contract worth USD26 million with Star Energy to drill 3 offshore wells in Indonesian waters.
Essar Wildcat was mobilized for this contract on September 14, well within the given deadline, and had successfully drilled for Star Energy in the West Natuna Sea. Essar is pleased to be a part of this prestigious project.
Safety is paramountThe Essar Wildcat had a tremendous achievement of completing 6 years without LTI as on November 2014. This stupendous milestone is indeed a result of volumes of Team efforts and reflects commitment and dedication of the crew onboard and the management.
This shows that positive safety behaviors and HSE consciousness embedded in daily working practices and activities have been encouraging crew to work in a safe manner on day to day basis and have led to sustainable positive safety culture on the Rig. We believe that religious implementation of various HSEprocedures/programs/initiatives/trainings on board, adoption of improved processes/tools/programs and improvement in methodology of carrying of various activities together have been some of the key contributory factors for achieving this milestone. This is a result of great Team work by all involved in WILDCAT operations.
The Wildcat has earlier drilled for Gujarat State Petroleum, off the east coast of India, in the KG basin and for Vietsovpetro (a JV between PetroVietnam and Zarubezhneft), offshore of Vietnam. Thereafter, the rig had been working with Conoco Philips to drill 11 intelligent completion offshore wells in Indonesian waters for the past 2.5 years.
