Paradip, Jagatsinghpur District, Odisha: Effective healthcare is a fundamental prerequisite of any productive society. Essar Foundation adheres to this belief and focuses on providing healthcare services to various beneficiaries in the areas of its operation. With this context, a health camp was organized by Essar Foundation supported by Essar Bulk Terminal Paradip Limited on March 15, 2014 at Bijayachandpur village of Nuagarh Gram Panchayat in Paradip with the larger objective of delivering locally unavailable health services to the stakeholders in nearby communities.

A team of four specialist doctors (medicine, pediatric, orthopedic and dental) and five paramedics attended to the health needs of the people in the camp organized at a primary school premises. The specialist doctors were specifically made available based on a request from the villagers of Bijayachandpur. The health camp was jointly inaugurated by Mrs Monalisa Parida, Chairperson of Kujanga Block Panchayat Samiti and Mrs Manjulata Jena, Chairperson of Paradip Municipality.

Paramedics at the health camp assisted in testing blood sugar and blood pressure of patients and attended to the medicine distribution counter. Volunteers from the Vivekanand Youth Club of the village and EBTL, along with the team of Essar Foundation at Paradip were present at the location to execute the health camp. Elected members of the Gram Panchayat were present at the venue to assist people of their respective wards. The village committee members were also present in full strength to assist in the process. 250 patients from the village availed the health services offered during the camp.
