The Essar Foundation has been awarded the prestigious Porter Prize for Enabling Social Progress. The award ceremony was held at the Radisson Blu Plaza in New Delhi on 26 September, 2014. Mr Deepak Arora, CEO, Essar Foundation received the trophy. Essar Foundation will find mention in a coffee table book that will cover the details and related activities of all the winners.
The award ceremony was preceded by elaborate panel discussions on topics such as Economic Geography and Competitiveness, and The Inner Game of Success - Mindfulness for Leaders. The event was organized by the Institute of Competitiveness and brought together industry leaders, thinkers and eminent academic figures. Mr Shashi Ruia, Chairman, Essar was the keynote speaker at the event. He addressed an audience that comprised of industry leaders from across the nation and the globe.
The Porter Prize is named after Professor Michael E Porter, a Harvard faculty member and a leading authority on competitive strategy. It is awarded after a robust three-stage process that includes making an application, strategy audit and jury evaluation. The Porter Prize is supported by partners like Mint, Canon, Roland Berger, FSG, Businessworld, exchange4media and The Viewspaper.
