This year, week-long celebrations were held in the school before the occasion on September 5, 2014. The activities included a cleanliness drive by the students in Hazira village, class decoration, reading, a handwriting test, elocution, essay competition, songs and role play, plantation and students acted as teachers by taking classes for whole day. Essar Steel India Limited (EStIL), Hazira and Essar Foundation extended their support to put together the celebrations.
Teachers’ Day was celebrated by honoring educators — both retired and serving — as well as students who participated in the various events during the celebration week.
Mr Kantibhai Patel and Mr Pran Lal Patel, both former teachers at Nav Jagruti were honored for their service to the school. They were presented shawls and mementos in the presence of Mr Sanjib Kumar, General Manager, EStIL and Mr Hetas Majmudar, JGM, EStIL, Hazira.
All the school teachers were honored for their service. Special recognition was given to eight students who also took on the task of running the school on September 5 by taking classes.
