
The camp was organized by Suvali’s Sarpanch Mr Babubhai Ahir, medical officers from the PHC and the District Panchayat’s Health Department. Field and multipurpose health workers as well as Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) helped make the camp a success.
Mr Jitesh Pathak from the Zilla Panchayat’s Health Department and Mr Ajay Thakur, Medical Officer, PHC, Suvali, gave a detailed presentation on the causes, symptoms and diagnosis of swine flu. Various aspects such as hygiene and sanitation, and the disease’s communicable nature were discussed. People were also made aware of preventive measures that need to be taken. Mr Vinod Pandey from Essar Foundation emphasized the need to maintain cleanliness, not only at home, but also in the surroundings.
More than 150 people including staff members of the health department were given masks to help prevent an epidemic. After the camp, a door-to-door campaign was also carried out with field workers and 300 masks were distributed among villagers. More campaigns have been planned along with the Health Department to combat and prevent the spread of swine flu.
