In a major collaboration with the District Panchayat, Essar Foundation launched the
Jan-jagruti Express. It is a platform on wheels for extension and outreach of government development schemes for women and children. The specially designed vehicle is equipped with audio-visual aids and resources for dissemination of information and awareness. It aims to connect the marginalized and Below Poverty Line (BPL) population with government services under one roof. The
Jan-jagruti Express will follow a route map, reaching out to 148 villages in five blocks of Jamnagar district. Thus, as many as 10,000 people will benefit from this platform.

It was a moment of pride to have the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Mrs Anandiben Patel, flag off the
Jan-jagruti Express at the
Gareeb Kalyan Mela in Jamnagar. Mr Lalit Kumar Gupta, MD and CEO, Essar Oil Limited; Mr C Manoharan, Director, Refinery; and Mr Deepak Arora, CEO, Essar Foundation, presented the key of the Jan-jagruti Express to the Chief Minister. Mrs Vasuben Trivedi, Minister for Higher Education; Ms Poonam Maadam, Member of Parliament; Mr Sanjay Prasad, Principle Secretary (I/n Jamnagar) and Mr Poonamchand Parmar, Principal Secretary, Rural Development, were among those present. During the last phase of the program, Essar officials also presented Mrs Patel with the Annual EOL CSR Report 2013-14.
The Chief Minister appreciated the efforts and encouraged government departments to reach out to as many people as possible. This would ensure that the objective behind connecting the grassroot population to the government is realized.
