In recognition of its waste water management & water treatment processes, Essar Power Hazira Limited (EPHL) was awarded two national-level awards by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry for ‘Outstanding contribution to industrial waste water management’ and ‘Outstanding contribution to water treatment plant- Operations & Maintenance’.
The award is especially momentous as it is based on the largest on-site assessment and benchmarking of industries across all sectors. EPHL has taken several measures to ensure water conservation and efficient management of waste water. These include performing a special chemical treatment and undertaking various water saving projects, salt & waste water recovery from softener regenerations, sludge & water re-use from clarifiers, installation of softening plant and several others.
The awards were presented on the occasion of “World Water Day” on 22nd March at the PHD Chamber headquarters in the presence of Mr Gopal K Agarwal, Chairman, Water & Solid Waste Management, PHD Chamber, Mr GS Jha, Chairman, Central Water Commission and Dr Jatinder Singh, Senior Secretary, PHD Chamber. Mr Tushar Savaliya, Head O&M, EPHL and Mr Ashit Desai, Head of Plant Chemistry Operations, EPHL received the award on behalf of the company.
