Essar Shipping, in association with Essar Ports and Essar Foundation, participated in the coastal clean-up drive on September 22 organized by the Coast Guard on the occasion of International Coastal Clean-up Day 2013 in Mumbai. Essar has been associated with International Coastal Clean-up (ICC) Day activities in Mumbai for the past several years.
The annual program involves volunteers cleaning up two main beaches in the city namely, Girgaum Chowpatty and Juhu. This year, Essarites and their family members along with students of various colleges, schools, NGOs joined hands to clear the debris on one of the city’s largest beachfronts, at Juhu. The bulk of the items collected were remnants of the recent Ganesh festival, which involves the ritual immersion of Ganesh statues after the 10-day festival.
