Essar Foundation and Essar Steel commemorate school enrolment program

Essar Foundation and Essar Steel India Limited, Hazira celebrated ‘Shala Pravesh Utsav 2014’, an initiative by the Government of Gujarat. More than 650 children from three primary schools and five anganwadis (Government run early education centers) at Hazira village were part of the celebrations.


The event, held at Hazira Primary School, was inaugurated by Mr Chirag Tailor, a lecturer at the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) in Surat. Senior students conducted various activities such as a session on yoga and motivational speeches on water conservation and saving the girl child. A course on spoken English was also inaugurated with the enrollment of 28 students from class 9 of Nav Jagruti Vidya Vihar School, Hazira. This course is part of Essar Foundation’s initiative to develop English language skills among students.

Essar provided the primary students with kits comprising of two sets of uniforms, note books and a school bag. These kits were also given to 60 students from classes 9 and 10 of Nav Jagruti Vidya Vihar School at Hazira. Senior Essar officials and those from the school management distributed the school kits and motivated the students to excel in their studies.
