The UN International Yoga Day is celebrated every year on June 21. Essar Foundation conducted a large scale Yoga session at High School, Chitrakonda. Facilitated by a professional Yoga practitioner, the idea of holding the session was to spread awareness about Yoga and its benefits among students. 200 students and eight teachers participated in the event. Yogasanas like Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Balasana and Surya Namaskaar were demonstrated and practiced at the session.
To observe the day, Essar Foundation organised yoga camps in neighboring schools of Essar Steel India Limited, Paradeep on June 21, 2017. Mass Yoga camp was held at the UGUP School, Paradeepgarh auditorium. Yoga demonstration for the students of R.B Gurukul, Bhutamundai and Harikrushna Academy were also held at a special assembly in each school. Over 220 students from classes VI to IX performed yoga on the day. They were made aware of the relevance of the yoga in daily life. Different asanas were demonstrated under the guidance of experienced yoga instructors. These asanas were taught to promote holistic approach to health and well-being among the students.
