Essar Foundation has dedicated a significant portion of its time and effort to the betterment of existing infrastructure in various spaces in 2015. Healthcare is one such initiative where the Foundation has aided hospitals to function better.
The diagnostic laboratory of Prasad Chikitsha, a hospital in Ganeshpuri village in Thane district has seen improvement and enhanced services thanks to the efforts of Essar Foundation along with Essar Ports. The support extended by the two entities will benefit more than 10,000 patients annually.
An event was held on 23 December, 2015 in Ganeshpuri, which marked the inauguration of the upgraded diagnostic lab. As part of this support, Essar has provided lab equipment, has enhanced the blood collection sample room, digitised the process of collecting diagnostic reports, and ensured a continuous supply of power through a high capacity UPS, as well as a dedicated admin console and human resource support.
The initiative will reduce the waiting time for patients and all services will now be available under one roof. The hospital serves a population of more than 1.5 lakh people, spread over 370 villages and hamlets inhabited by tribal population. It provides general OPD services along with specialized health care services in eye care, ENT, Dental, ANC, TB and treatment for HIV/ AIDS.
