As a part of the Essar Foundation’s integrated health initiatives, a dental health camp was organised for 300 schoolchildren of Govt. Middle School in Nagwa, Singrauli. The camps were initiated last year by Essar Foundation with support from Essar Power MP Limited. This year’s camp, which was held at the school premises on 6thNovember 2015, saw an even greater turnout than the previous year.
The lack of quality healthcare services continues to plague the rural pockets in these remote areas. Studies show healthcare has a significant impact on children’s education. Most rural kids become irregular at school or drop out because of poor health. Timely check-up and promotion of healthy practices go a long way in preventing diseases and larger issues that might emerge in the long run. The children went home with takeaway kits of good quality toothbrushes and toothpastes, which should keep them motivated towards maintaining healthy dental care habits.
