Health has been one of the foremost concerns for Essar Foundation. A mega health camp was organized at the premises of Nagwa Gram Panchayat, adjacent to the power plant at Mahan. Essar Foundation organized the second free medical camp at Nagwa Gram Panchayat on September 25, September 2012 in collaboration with the District Health Committee and Women and Child Development Department, Singrauli on the lines of the first camp held at the R&R Colony on August 28, 2012.
The District Health Committee felicitated three government hospital doctors and paramedical staff. Medicine worth Rs30,000 was provided by the District Health Committee to project-affected people and nearby areas. Local youth volunteered for the camp and helped man the registration counter.
Dr Pankaj Singh, Block Medical Officer, Khutar Community Health Centre, Dr Rahul Singh and Dr.Balendu Kr. Shah examined a total of 415 patients. Free medicines were distributed and blood tests for malaria were conducted for all patients with symptoms. Three patients of each PV (Plasmodium vivax parasites) and PF (Plasmodium falciparum) were found infected with malaria.
A total of 52 infants and children were given vaccinations such as DPT, Hepatitis B, measles etc. under the prescribed immunization program. Anganwadi workers weighed the infants and small children and provided them with nutritious supplements.
Prominent key influencers and social workers Mr Ajit Pandey, Mr Chandrakesh Jaiswal, Mr Ramashankar Gupta, Mr Udwant Pandey and Mr Indal Gupta were present throughout the day to ensure the camp was successful.
