Essar Projects Infrastructure Asset has won an order of Rs 392 crore for the Panan Hydro Electric Power (HEP) Project - Execution of Civil Works. The client, Himagiri Hydro Energy is implementing the 300-MW Panan Hydro Electric Power Project in Sikkim, India. The project is expected to take 48 months to complete. 
Speaking on the occasion, Priti Patel, Head – Hydro & Metros said, “It is a large project and there are specific components which will give us high prequalification and expertise. The project consists of a 98m-high concrete gravity dam, two de-silting chambers, about 10km of head race tunnel, a 90m-deep surge shaft and a surface power house to house four 75MW turbines to generate 300MW of electricity.”
The scope of work for the project includes river diversion arrangements, concrete gravity dam, underground de-silting chambers, silt flushing tunnel, head race tunnel, underground surge shaft, underground pressure shafts, valve chamber, vertical penstocks, surface power house, and a tail race channel.
This is the third project being executing by the Essar team in the hydro power sector, the first two being the Pallivasal Hydel Power Extension Project in Kerala, South India, and the 2x30MW Tuirial Hydel Power Project in the north eastern state of Mizoram.
