Even as Essar continues to expand its global footprint, its celebrations are moving beyond India’s shores as well. It celebrated its 31st Founder’s Day at Mt Hagen, the capital city of the Western Highland Province, Papua New Guinea (PNG). Enthusiastic Essarites and hundreds of spectators from the neighborhood were present for the function.

Prayers were offered at the start of the event and the national anthems of both countries were played. This was followed by a speech by Mr Prem Vardhan, CEO, Essar Projects, PNG. He thanked the locals for their support in the various projects executed such as the Kapal Haus which is the Western Highlands’ provincial headquarters in Mt Hagen. Mr Paias Wingti, the Governor of the Western Highland Province then addressed the crowd and praised Essar Projects for its contribution to the development of the island nation.

The highlight of the colorful event was performances by students of Mt Hagen School. They danced to the beats of a variety of enthralling Bollywood numbers.
