There is a universal benefit in employees devoting their time and skill to better communities and tackling social issues. While meeting CSR objectives is one reason to get internal stakeholders involved in these activities, the actual impact is felt only in those most human moments when people work with energy towards positive socio-cultural and environmental goals.
Thousands of Essar employees have actively participated to work with communities around Essar locations across the country towards developing sustainably. Working closely with NGOs and self-help groups, employees offer their skills and knowledge in different fields, such as education, environment and health.
CSR volunteering programmes are conducted on a monthly basis, encouraging employees to interact with students at Essar supported schools, volunteer at health camps / blood donation drives, carry out plantation drives / cleanliness initiatives and more. Our employees believe that these simple act of volunteering always leaves them richer for the experience.
For instance, Alok Sen (an IT professional at Essar) and his wife Geeta Sen, are our very own craft masters who have taken recently craft sessions with young students from Government Middle School, Bandhaura, Singrauli. They encouraged the young minds to unleash their creativity using colourful paper and natural materials (seeds, leaves, stones etc.). This session was a great way to inspire the youngsters to be creative and think outside the box.
Essar volunteers have also done their bit for the environment time and again. Essar Foundation& Essar Ports,(EBTPL) in conjunction with Indian Coast Guard , Paradeep recently hit the beach in a bid to make it cleaner on the occasion of International Coastal Cleanup Day (19h Sept 2015).
Volunteers from Essar Bulk Terminal Paradeep Limited as well as Essar Foundation participated in the clean-up drive.
Here are some fun initiatives our volunteers have taken up over the last couple of years –
