As
part of the Essar Foundation's corporate social responsibility (CSR) philosophy
to support the welfare of differently-abled children, a voluntary fundraising
effort was organized jointly by Essar Family Connect and the CSR team.
A total of 52 Essar employees of CBM Raniganj contributed to the cause benefitting 80 children who are differently abled (children with hearing impairments, autism, cerebral palsy and orthopedic impairments) and undergoing training and rehabilitation at the Society for Handicapped Orientation Program and Education (HOPE) in Durgapur).
On December 23, 2011, a team of 12 Essar employees visited HOPE and met these special children. On the occasion, the Founder Director of HOPE Mr B Achari was present along with his team of special educators and trainers. The children also showed their cultural and artistic talent.
Though the support extended by Essar team was modest, it was well appreciated by the Director and the HOPE team. We look forward to such initiatives in the future, they are an opportunity to express our solidarity with these, the most special of God’s children.
