During June 2017 (anti-malaria month), the District Panchayat Jamnagar-Dwarka and Essar Foundation came together to organise a drive in three surrounding villages to tackle the outbreak of malaria and other vector-borne diseases. Government officials engaged with 267 students, their teachers, village heads and community leaders to spread awareness about symptoms, precautionary steps, points of contact and government benefits of such schemes.
Guppy fish (known to eat malaria causing mosquito larvae and eggs) were given to schools to be kept in their water storage tanks. The drive promotes better health through information dissemination and preventive measures.
