Budding artists from schools in Hazira area learnt about energy conservation through
a painting competition held in Junagam Primary School on September 28, 2012. The activity-based learning program was organized by the Essar Foundation under its ‘Gyanjyoti’ scheme to support the endeavor of the Ministry of Power, Government of India to involve children in the propagation of the idea of a clean, green and energy efficient future.
About 77 students from classes 4-6, all from schools located around Junagam
village enthusiastically participated in the event. The competition was based 
on three themes:
- Bijli Bachao Unnati Lao;
- Do the nation a favour, be an energy
saver
- Wind, water, sun: Energy for the long run.
