
The students were selected based on their performance in the 2014 class ten exams of the Gujarat State Examination Board. The students selected are either continuing their schooling in class eleven or pursuing vocational diplomas. Those pursuing commerce were given a cash award of Rs 5,000, while students pursuing science were awarded Rs 7,500. Students doing diploma courses were given Rs 10,000.

It is envisaged that the annual Gyan Jyoti Awards will be a motivating factor for students appearing for their Board Exams in March this year. They will be eligible for the scholarship awards which will be distributed on Independence Day, August 15, 2015.
