
The National Safety Council is an autonomous, non-profit, tripartite apex body, which was set up by the Government of India’s Ministry of Labour and Employment in March 1966. Its objective was to generate, develop and sustain a voluntary movement on safety, health and environment (SHE) at the national level.

The selection process for the award involved various stages such as screening of applications, assessment by a technical team, a presentation before the Awards Committee, and data verification by the Directorate of Industrial Safety & Health, Gujarat State, where the EHES facility is located.
