On the occasion of World AIDS Awareness Day on December 1, Essar Foundation undertook to conduct an information and education campaign at Hazira Village.

It has been proven across the world that the most effective preventive ‘vaccine’ for HIV / AIDS (human immune-deficiency virus / acquired immune-deficiency syndrome) is knowledge of the disease. With this approach, Essar Foundation has been working to break the silence that deepens the threat of the disease, and in creating an environment that encourages effective interventions against HIV and AIDS at the grassroots level.

On the occasion of World AIDS Day, Ms Sonal Shroff, director of the nonprofit organisation Lok Vikas Sanstha (LVS), spoke with the Hazira Village residents about the precautions to be taken to avoid the disease and how transmission of the virus takes place. She also emphasised the need to do away with ill-informed victimisation of people afflicted and / or affected by the virus.
