How long would it take to give a ship a complete makeover?
Only three days if you are armed with the power of synergy!
Essar Shipping, Arkay Logistics, Essar Bulk Terminal (EBTL) and Essar Steel, Hazira, recently collaborated to give a new lease of life to MV Tvisha, a 1999-build Japanese general cargo ship with 13,000 tonnes capacity that was acquired by Essar Shipping in 2009. The vessel carries finished goods on her voyages between Hazira and Kattupalli / Haldia, and transports iron ore pellets from Essar Steel's pellet plant in Visakhapatnam to the Hazira Steel Complex on her way back.
When the Essar Shipping team started planning the makeover of MV Tvisha, it did not have any resources of its own. What they had, however, was the assistance of dedicated teams from EBTL, Arkay Logistics and Essar Steel. The paint, equipment and manpower came from Arkay Logistics. EBTL ensured that loading activities were carried out smoothly, and safely, even during the frenzy of painting and blasting on the deck. Essar Steel and its Security team was in charge of the removal and disposal of waste from the ship.
The teams worked overnight to achieve the best results in the shortest possible time.
Kudos to each one of them for demonstrating the power of teamwork.
