Essar Energy, along with the Essar Foundation, was a participating sponsor of the 2nd International Conference on Sustainability: People, Planet and Prosperity, organized by premier Indian B-school, IIM Shillong, from November 9-11, 2011.
The conference, which promotes carrying forward the spirit of sustainable living and doing things for the prosperity of people and the planet, had a congregation of intellectuals, academia, corporate stewards, activists and policy-makers to join the 'Sustainability Movement' and show the world the ways, means and tenets of accomplishing sustainable prosperity for the people of the planet.
Sustainability is core to Essar and our association with this event is in consonance with our focus on sustainability. Representing Essar, Mr Deepak Arora, VP – Corporate Social Responsibility, and Jyotindra Vachharajani, Head – Corporate Relations, Jamnagar, interacted with the students there, understanding the views and ideas of the young minds towards sustainability. Essar Energy also awarded prizes to the three best student papers presented at the conference.
