As a part of this, recently, the Foundation arranged for a week-long summer activity camp with specific emphasis on spoken English, for the students of Shri NK Ruia Madhyamik Vidyalaya in Lonavla (Maharashtra).
The camp, called 'Dhoop Chaaon', saw over 100 students participate, staying back even though their summer vacation had commenced. The camp started on May 2, 2012, and had sessions on spoken English, art, craft, music and painting.
On May 8, Dhoop Chaoon concluded with the kids performing a skit in English. Starting from the set design, to costumes, to music, everything was organized by the students with enthusiasm, taking cues from what they learnt at camp.
The students read excerpts from English newspapers fluently and explained the jist with confidence, evident of the success of the training activities.
The skit opened to a full-house, with all the schoolchildren, their parents and even the Sarpanch (village head) attending.
