The initiative, which was organized in association with Mumbai-based NGO – Umang Foundation, was held at Matoshri Ramabai Ambedkar Vidyalaya, Ulhasnagar, and targeted the children who lived in the vicinity.
On Saturday, 16 Essarites boarded a bus to the school to volunteer their services for
the day. The task: to prepare 1,000 kits, the kits for which were segregated on
the basis of the classes; each class was given different materials. The Essar volunteers focused on classes 1 and 2, and created an effective production line, by allocating
specific tasks to each individual.
Each employee was responsible for putting
the correct material in the right kit. Through this activity, the employees
were motivated to reach the target of 1,000 in the stipulated time. Apart from the sense of pride at having supported a worthy cause, the employees also developed a sense of team spirit and camaraderie. Once completed, the stationery kits were distributed to the children.
