Marking the occasion of World Earth Day on 22nd April, Essar Foundation & Center for Environment Education (CEE) jointly organized a session on Environmental & Climate Literacy in Parodiya Primary School. 100 students from Std. VI to VIII participated in the session which revolved around pertinent issues of global warming & greenhouse effect via short animated films. The informative session was then followed by the small acts of conscious choices children can do on a daily basis to combat larger environmental issues.
The session also reiterated the importance of 3 Rs i.e. Reduce, Reuse & Recycle. World Earth Day is celebrated every year in 192 countries across the world to promote greater sensitization among people about the environment as well as to demonstrate the environmental protection measures. Taking the initiative forward, the monsoons will see each child planting a sapling as a measure to encourage afforestation. Maintenance of the saplings will be entrusted upon the children’s families and community groups so as to ensure sustenance.
