With the aim of providing a continuous impetus to meritorious students from communities located in remote areas, Essar Foundation with Essar Steel (EStIL), Kirandul, organised a scholarship Award program in Phulpad village in Dantewada District. Forty students from five primary, and two middle schools of Phulpad and Palnar villages, were awarded scholarships under the Essar Foundation’s ‘Gyanjyoti’ programme.
The Assistant Block Education Officer, Kuakonda Block, Dantewada District, who spoke at the function, appreciated the Foundation’s efforts in encouraging students to improve their academic performance, and in helping check the dropout rate in schools. More than 100 people, including the village Sarpanch, teachers and parents, were present at the occasion.
