Essar Foundation collaborated with the District Panchayat in Devbhoomi Dwarka to organise five cataract check-up and operation camps at various locations. The camps were set up at Khambhalia, Dwarka, Bhanvad, Kalyanpur and Vadinar.
A total of 1,260 community members were examined by the team of doctors. Of these, 235 patients were diagnosed with a cataract operation or further treatment. The patients will be treated at GG Hospital in Jamnagar, and the government health department will help with the operations and post-operative care. Essar Foundation will provide transport to patients who will need to regularly travel to Jamnagar from their villages.
The camps were visited by several district officials, including the District Health Officer; Mr HK Patel, District Collector; Mr RR Rawal, District Development Officer (DDO); as well as Mr Devmurari, Civil Surgeon, Khambhaliya General Hospital. The Essar officials who attended the camps included Captain Deepak Sachdeva, COO-VOTL & EBTSL; Mr Geojo Paul, Head-Adminstration (India) & CSR, EOL; Mr Jayesh Thanki, JGM-CRG, EPGL; Mr Awadhesh Pathak, Lead-CSR, EOL; Mr Deependra Parihar, Manager-CSR, EOL; and Dr Jogin Joshi, Advisor-Community Health Project, CSR.
