On June 10, 2012, the Essar Foundation organized an eye check-up camp for the villagers residing in and around the Hazira facility in Gujarat. Held at the Navjagruti School, Hazira village, the camp was open to all, including senior citizens and school children.
A team of six ophthalmologists from Desai Eye Hospital in Surat, arrived with modern medical equipment to conduct the medical examinations and tests; patients were also advised on prevention and care of eye ailments. About 100 villagers, of different age groups, benefited from the camp.
The Foundation also made transport arrangements for needy villagers, in addition to ensuring that they were comfortable at the camp. The whole program was well-appreciated by the village Panchayat, and all those who attended.
