Republic Day observance at Paradip

Every Republic Day, schools in Paradip are celebrate the occasion with special activities for children. Nuagarh UP School in Nuagarh Village, Paradip played host to more than 200 children in observing India’s 65th Republic Day.  Essarites from Paradip Steel Complex, prominent community leaders from Nuagarh Village, members of Nuagarh UP School SMC, two former headmasters of Nuagarh UP School and a good number of parents were present on the occasion.

The day began with a procession by the children chanting Gandhiji’s favorite devotional song ‘Raghupati raghav raja ram’ and patriotic slogans like Vande mataram and Bharat mata ki jay. It was followed by the garlanding of the statue of Utkalamani (literally, jewel of Utkal) Gopabandhu Das on the school premises. Gopabandhu Das was a noted Gandhian and freedom fighter, and is considered one among the makers of modern Odisha.

The children of the school then presented an elaborate cultural show after which, prizes were distributed to winners of sports, debate, singing and other such competitions held in the school a week earlier.

Essar Foundation presented sports goods to promote sports like cricket, skipping, badminton and carom. The chairman of the school management committee received them on behalf of the school. Essarite volunteers played a significant role in the successful organization of the event.
