Essar Foundation and Essar Power initiated the project Aanchal in Madhya Pradesh recently. As a part of the project, various awareness programmes were conducted at Semua village on mother and child health care, nutrition, and different government schemes related to health.
In January this year, the Foundation organised an awareness programme for pregnant and new mothers, as well as for village health workers at the government primary school in Semua village.
The programme touched upon aspects of cleanliness and hygiene, followed by a session on nutrition. Diet charts for expecting mothers and children were also provided to the attendees. The session emphasised how it is possible to eat nutritious food without shelling out a lot of money, and how healthy food can be made with the things easily available in one’s home.
The women at the session also learnt about infant care, and how it differs during the summer and winter months, and what they should be fed between 0-6 months. An overview of the benefits that can be availed through government health related schemes was also provided.
