Narara Marine National Park, Jamnagar, Gujarat
Essar Foundation, in collaboration with Narara Marine National Park Jamnagar, marked World Ocean Day 2017 on 10th June by conducting an elaborate coastal clean-up drive at Narara Bet. Employees of Essar Power Gujarat Limited cleared 1,000 kg of solid waste from the site and hung simulated bird nests in trees. In recent years, biodiversity of marine national park has been under threat on several scores like extraction of corals and sands by cement industries, increased turbidity of water, oil refineries, chemical industries and mechanised fishing boats.
Our oceans generally face the negative impact of plastics, oil spills, irresponsible disposal etc., therefore the employees took this opportunity to work towards this cause and connect with nature, which encourages them to be socially and environmentally responsible in the future.
