They poured their hearts out. Every employee of Essar Power and Essar Oil, Vadinar, rejoiced in the experience of giving during the ‘Joy of Giving Week 2011', organized by the Essar Foundation.
Celebrated all through October 2-8, the Joy of Giving Week is a three-year-old initiative in India, under which people from all walks of life are invited to donate either time, money or their skills, or perform simple acts of kindness, for the less privileged.
At Vadinar, Essarites were invited to donate some specific items for a few government-run institutions in Jamnagar. The response was overwhelming, as the baskets put up at strategic points across the site, overflowed at the end of every day. In what we call ‘a truly positive response’ from Essarites, 120 kilos of potatoes, 60 kilos of onions, 5 sacks of biscuits, chocolates and dry confection, and 8 sacks of clothes were collected during the week
