On August 6, 2012, the Essar Foundation distributed school uniforms to the students attending Saraswati Shishu
Mandir (Nand Vihar, Nagwa) at Mahan Power plant's R&R colony in Madhya Pradesh.
The aim of the initiative was to encourage school enrollment and get children excited about attending school and learning.
Mr. Vivek Gupta, Tehsildar, Mada, was the chief guest at the event, where more than 800 students were handed new uniforms. This follows the distribution of textbooks and notebooks that was organized at the beginning of the academic year.
Mr. Madhusudan Panda, DGM, Environment, Mr. Vijay Kashyap, Manager, Purchase, and engineers – Ms. Vinati Gupta, Ms. Adya Mohanty and Ms. Swaha Mohapatra – from Mahan Power volunteered at the function.
Later, the chief guest and Essar officers interacted with the enthusiastic students, motivating them to pursue higher studies.
