Essar Steel Hazira and Essar Foundation's annual blood donation drive — Mission Jeevandaan 1234 — has set a record. During the three day camp, 1,333 units of blood were collected through voluntary donations. This has made Essar Steel Hazira the first corporate from the industrial hub of South Gujarat to set such a record.
This is the third year that Mission Jeevandaan 1234 has been organized. It was held across 17 locations in the Hazira facility from July 16-18, 2015. The drive aimed at collecting 1,234 units of blood which is the target that inspired the name of the project. The initiative was organized in association with the blood bank of the Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad, the blood bank of the Civil Hospital in Surat and the Surat Rakthdan Kendra.
Essar employees, their spouses and staff from vendor companies participated in the three-day event. Around 445 units were donated on each day, thus registering collections well above the target.
