Under its Gyanjyoti scheme, the Essar Foundation works towards spreading the light of education among disadvantaged sections of society.
In line with this goal, on July 24, 2012 – coincident with the start of the academic year – the Foundation distributed sets of notebooks to over 300 students from different schools in and around Hazira village in Gujarat. The notebooks were sponsored by the Essar Employees Credit and Consumer Co-operative Society, Hazira.
In a separate ceremony held on the same day, 100 students who took part in a painting competition held in August 2011, under the aegis of the National Campaign on Energy Conservation, were awarded certificates of participation.
