Mr Deepak Arora, CEO of Essar Foundation, was conferred the CSR Leadership Award at the ABP News CSR Leadership Awards, at an event held on 17th February, 2017 in Mumbai. The award was conferred as an acknowledgement of his continual efforts in shaping the CSR programmes of Essar, directed towards socio-economic development of local communities in and around Essar’s facilities.
Essar Foundation was also awarded for its UNMUKT programme under the Innovations in Corporate Social Responsibility Practices at the Global CSR Excellence & Leadership Awards at the same venue on 18th February, 2017. UNMUKT is Essar Foundation’s national programme which is aimed at mainstreaming popular cinema for the visually impaired. As part of this initiative, the Foundation regularly screens audio-described version of popular Hindi Films for visually-impaired. Audio-description includes a voice-over that describes what is transpiring onscreen during natural pauses in the audio, and sometimes during dialogue. This allows a visually-impaired person to enjoy a film without being dependent on a sighted person.
The Foundation was also recognized at the 6th Edition of Times Ascent’s Dream Companies to Work for Awards at an event held on 16th February, 2017.
