Essar Foundation, along with Essar Steel, Orissa, supported a blood donation camp organized by Maruti Club, at Bamebari in Keonjhar, on January 8, 2012. While the District Red Cross Society, Keonjhar, made all the technical arrangements for collection of blood units from donors, Essar Steel sponsored the camp. Essar also provided an ambulance to meet any unexpected situation during the camp. Further, the CSR team from Essar was present at the site of the blood donation camp and provided assistance to make the camp a success. Some team members also donated blood at the camp. A total 156 units were collected.
“We are also in the process of building a 16-bed hospital at the plant site near Dabuna, which will provide all types of basic and primary health services to local people once it becomes operational. And we will keep on supporting these types of noble initiatives for looking after the healthcare of the people of the region,” said Pramod Kumar Gupta, Head - Essar Steel, Orissa. “Health being one of the focus areas of the Essar Foundation, such initiatives will be intensified in the coming days,” he added.
