In its first ever application for the award, ELL was awarded 58 out of 60 points by the jury of independent judges. Mr Neal Stone, acting Chief Executive, BSC, said, “On behalf of the Trustees and staff of the British Safety Council we warmly congratulate ELL and its employees on gaining an International Safety Award with merit for 2015. All of those working at ELL have made this award possible which recognizes their commitment to preventing injury and ill health in the workplace.”

The International Labour Organisation estimates that every year over 2.3 million people across the world die due to workplace injury and work-related ill health. An estimated 4% of the global GDP is also lost due to health and safety failure. Awards play an important role in appreciating those employers who take sensible and effective steps to ensure the health, safety and welfare of their workers. This not only celebrates their efforts but also encourages other businesses everywhere. Now in their 57th year, the BSC International Safety Awards seek to celebrate and promote the success of the winning organizations and their employees in maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for all. They are open to businesses, public and third sector bodies of all sizes and sectors.
