At Suvali village, in the Hazira belt, Essar Foundation and Essar Steel India Limited have recently established an Essar Lok Vikas Kendra. The inauguration ceremony was attended by representatives from Essar, the Gram Panchayat Sarpanch, and the members of the Panchayat.
Along the same lines as the ELVKs that have been set up previously, this one aims to empower the women in Suvali by providing not just additional source of income, but also a platform to develop their skills. Forty women have enrolled in the training programme so far, and will be trained in apparel production for a period of six months. All the trainees have been provided with a tailoring and stitching kit. The Gram Panchayat of Suvali has extended its support by providing the community centre space for operating the ELVK.
