Essar Foundation and Essar Steel Hazira promote effective e-governance in Surat

Essar Foundation and Essar Steel Hazira have extended support to the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme in Surat. The initiative is meant to promote e-governance at the grassroots level. Laptops were provided to the District Project Officer and Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs) at a function held at the Zilla Panchayat office on February 16, 2015. CDPOs of nine talukas in the district received laptops in the presence of the District Development Officer Mr Vijay Kumar Kharadi (IAS).



Speaking at the function, Mr Kharadi stressed on the importance of data management and effectively using the laptops for it. He insisted that the CDPOs and taluka coordinator be trained in IT and computing skills. He also suggested that Essar conduct a training program for the ICDS department, which the company’s IT team will do. Mr Ralph Sunil, VP and Head Administration, Essar Steel, Hazira, and Mr Gaurang Doshi, Associate VP, IT infrastructure, Essar, Hazira, attended the function along with Essar Foundation team members.
