India is one of the countries in the world which has the advantage of a demographic dividend – this means that there is a large fraction of younger population here, who have the potential to contribute to the economy. The importance of skill development has been acknowledged and highlighted by the government, by industry experts and CSR practitioners alike. The country is moving towards the cultivation of a skilled workforce in to meet the needs of the economy.
On World Youth Skills day, Essar Foundation is highlighting its contribution towards the removal of disconnect between demand and supply of skilled manpower, building the vocational and technical training framework, skill up-gradation, and building of new skills, especially for rural India.
