The CSR team at Essar Oil’s (EOL) CBM block in Raniganj, West Bengal,
organized distribution of winter clothes to the tribal community belonging to
four villages located near the forest areas at the periphery of the 500 sq km
site.
Temperatures in the region can fall to 5 degrees centigrade; 150 families from the tribal villages of Karandanga, Charipara, Dhoadanga and Monerkonda were provided blankets, sweaters and woolen caps, to help see them through the winter months. The villagers all work as agricultural laborers, and often have to walk long distances in the cold weather for work.
The material was distributed by community leaders of the respective villages
on December 10, 2011.
